Top Eight Best Horror Movies on Netflix

Let's be honest for a minute. I'd love to say that I wake up everyday at 8 AM with a list of things to do and all of the drive to do it before the afternoon nap kicks in, but that's just not how life works most days. Right now, I'm trying to get my body out of the habit of sleeping til 1 PM because I used to work 3 PM til about 3 AM. Making myself go workout everyday is hard enough without getting up early to do so. Sorry not sorry.
But on the bright side for everyone else, that means that I can give you my favorite horror movies from Netflix. Horror movies are my thing and I could literally watch them all day every day, but I've watched so many online that it's hard to find any good ones anymore. I've made it through all the A list, most of the B list, and a few of the C list. Any less than that and I just can't do it.
So without any further adieu, here are my top ten favorite horror movies on the interwebs:

You've probably all heard of this movie at this point, and to be honest, I wasn't sure it was going to be all that great. It looked amazing, but previews can do fantastic things for a movie. Basically, it shows the story of an evil mirror that kills people. The daughter believes it's the mirror while the son is skeptical, so the daughter kidnaps the mirror for a weekend in order to prove that it actually is evil. Mayhem ensues.

This movie legitimately made me freak out and consider putting electrical tape over my built in camera for awhile. It's so realistic and it's shown mainly from the computer camera's point of view. A girl gets a grant to do research with a site that's basically Chat Roulette but under a different name (The Den), and happens upon a person who she thinks killed a girl while she was watching. Things escalate quickly. Make sure your doors and windows are locked before you start this one.

I don't even know where to begin describing this movie. Creepy neighbor turns out to be much creepier than you realize in the beginning. Things don't seem to make any sense until you find out the plot twist and then for the rest of the movie I was just like "OMG. NO. THAT CAN'T HAPPEN. NO! GET BETTER LOCKS, YOU IDIOT!" So yeah. You should watch it.

This movie is all kinds of weird. It's definitely not a jump scare or anything, but the sheer creepiness of a hole that goes nowhere but has creatures coming out of it when no one is looking just makes my skin crawl. Then end gets a little fantastical, but it's super interesting.

Leana and I found this one night when we were late night browsing for movies to watch to procrastinate homework. It's good even at face value but it's amazing once you realize what's really happening towards the end. It's kind of split down the middle between a horror movie and a thriller.

A woman moves into a new apartment and starts getting calls from a woman claiming that there's a different man living there. Turns out, she's from the past and she was supposed to have killed herself sometime after the calls start happening. Instead, she attaches to the girl in the apartment, and things get crazy.

All I really have to say is - please do not ever have unprotected sex. Like ever. Because I doubt that this particular situation could ever actually happen, but you never know. Be that as it may, it's like a train wreck. it's so bad that it's good. I love love love this movie and tell people to watch it all the time. But if you're squeamish, don't eat while you watch it.

Most people either love or hate this movie. But I feel like everyone can agree that the mannequins make this movie so incredibly creepy and something to haunt your dreams long after it's over. And there's not just one mannequin - oh no - there are dozens. If you have any dolls, I'd put them away while you watch this movie. And maybe for a few days after.

And that's it! There's a couple of others I could've added but they're really not good enough to be on a "Best" list. They're more just entertaining for how bad they are if anything.

Are there any movies you would've added to this list? (Or taken off?)

I hope you all have a fantastic day! I'm heading back to Mississippi for a few days to see the boyfriend, parents, and friends. :)

Happy Thursday!

  1. I'm a horror movie fan, so I am totally going to check all these out! I was one of those people who scoffed at Oculus when I first saw the previews, I didn't think it would be worth it to see in theaters, but if it's on Netflix....I'll have to give it a go!

  2. I love scary movies, but none of my friends do so I always end up watching them alone. Some of the images and links aren't working for me, though, so I'm not sure which movies your describing for some of them.

    1. Most of my friends don't either, but thankfully my boyfriend does. :) And I'm so sorry! I think I've fixed it now.

  3. I definitely want to watch a few of these! I've been really into nextflix lately. A few of the images aren't working for me either.

  4. I remember seeing Dead Silence in the theater and my friends and I had to walk home. We jumped and screeched at every little thing on our few block walk. To this day that movie still gives me the chills and I can never figure out if it's the movie, the general use of dolls, or the mindset I went into the movie with "I want to be freaked out."

  6. The only movie I've seen out of these is Dead Silence, which was so freaking creepy. Omg. I just...yea. So creepy. I hate puppets already, so this movie didn't help. I want to check out the others though! I love watching horror movies. They get my adrenaline pumping.

  8. I'm also a huge horror fan. Not only do I love horror movie but I love horror books and TV shows (the Walking Dead). I am a zombie enthusiast. I've just finished book 8 in a zombie series I've been reading which is called Zombie Fallout by Mark Tufo. Check it out. It is one of the best zombie series out there. If you don't have time to read get it at Audible.com. The narrator for the series is one of kind and is funny as hell. Anyway, thanks for posting these movies. I haven't seen them yet and have already put them on my to watch list.
