Year Of Happy: January Love Letter

Hey there, you.

You see the picture up there? That planner that you just started filling in with dates and class and trips and just general stuff you have to do? I know it's gonna be a lot. I know right now everything seems tough and like you're not going to be able to wake up without feeling some sort of stress, but I just want you to know that I think you're amazing. You made it through the most stressful parts of last year like a champ and even had a few new adventures along the way. You did more in a year than some people do in a lifetime.

You traveled, you made friends, lost some friends, rocked out last semester with a 4.0, and never gave up on anything important. You have more endurance and courage than I even think is possible sometimes, and I have no doubt that you will do whatever you decide to. When you make up your mind, you're in. If you want something, you go after it.

And I haven't seen you fail yet when you set your mind to it.

I just need you to know that you won't be alone over this next year. Though it may feel like it for awhile, it's just a matter of perception.

So get off your butt, don't sleep all day, and go out and make people love you like I know that you can. Stay organized. Drink a lot of coffee. Don't settle for a job that you don't wake up happy to go to every day. And most importantly, make sure that you are putting YOU first. No one else. You have to live with yourself for the rest of your life, so make sure you don't leave yourself behind when making decisions. Love yourself. Like yourself, especially.

And when you feel like you have no inspiration for the day, here are some goals that the "now" you wants you to remember for this year:

// Save money
// Spend money on traveling, especially with people you love
// Go back to Edinburgh
// Embrace moving and all of the adventures that come with it
// Don't cut your hair. You regret it every single time
// Jump into new things whole-heartedly
// Finish your last semester strong
// Finish all those book series' that you've had on your shelf for years
// Don't lose old friends
// Don't be afraid of making new ones
// Invest in good furniture (like a new desk, perhaps?)
// Make a real blogging schedule

So when you're feeling down, just don't. Know that you're awesome. You're a ballin' twenty-two year old with all the potential and opportunities in the world. You love Taylor Swift and red lipstick and Harry Potter and scary movies and white roses and staying in bed all day and playing monopoly and staying in reading instead of going out sometimes and all of that is okay. It's more than okay. It's you and it's your life and if it's what you want to do - DO IT.

This year will be fantastic. You'll make it so.
Love, Allison
