All Hallows Eve.

My absolute favorite holiday is Halloween.
I love handing out candy to all the little children, I would no doubt still go trick or treating if one of my friends wanted to go with me, the parties tend to be highly entertaining, my dad's birthday IS Halloween, and mine is the next day.

And I love everything pumpkin.

On top of that, I love knowing the history of holidays and Halloween has quite the interesting one.

The earliest mention of Halloween originates back to the Festival of Samhain, a Celtic tradition. It's believed that it's the night that the line between the living and the dead is the most blurred. And along with that, the carving of pumpkins has many different origin stories. Some believe that it came from Ireland and that they originally used beets or turnips instead of pumpkins. It's also believed that it originated on All Saints Day, as a way to represent the Christian souls in purgatory. Another belief is that they were used to keep the dead souls away from one's house.

Other fun Halloween facts:

The word "witch" comes from the Old English "wicce," meaing wise woman.
Samhainophobia is the fear of Halloween
In Medieval Europe, owls were thought to be witches, and to hear an owl's call meant someone was about to die.

And even if you don't like anything else about Halloween, how can you not like Hocus Pocus?

And Halloweentown?

There's just so much to love.

Now i just need costume ideas.

What are you guys planning on going as this year? :)

Happy tuesday!
xoxo

  3. Okay, here's the thing.... I think we are twins. Seriously. I LOVE Halloween and I just read your about me and there is SO MUCH in common. LIKE Harry Potter (but that's not that uncommon.... who doesn't love the boy who lived?) AND singing well, but not dancing well (unless it's just dance on Wii, because, well its just fun) ANDD my love of Waffle House inspired me to have waffles as the dinner at my wedding. ANYHOOO I'm back from a long six month break from blogging and so happy I just found you! Can't wait to learn more about you and our eerily similar loves.

P.S. I'm trying to convince the hubs to go with me as Johnny Cash and June Carter. He told me now that we are married, he doesn't have to impress me by dressing up anymore.... SADDEST day ever.

  4. I think that's AWESOME! I love finding new friends on the interwebs, and anyone who loves Harry Potter is a friend to me. ๐Ÿ‘

And oh my gosh. Your love of Waffle House makes me happy. A friend of mine bought me a bright yellow tshirt from Waffle House for Christmas one year in high school. ๐Ÿ˜ I still wear it a lot even though pale people definitely don't look good in yellow. It's the principle. Haha.

I'm so glad you found me! I'm on my phone right now but once I'm off work I'll go check out yours as well! :)

And that would be possibly one of the most epic costume duos ever. Make him do it. And take photos.

My best friend and I are planning on being two of the three Sanderson sisters. And just say the third one got lost on her vacuum. ๐Ÿ˜ haha. I'm excited!

Hope you have a great day!

Also. I emailed this to you, but you're a no-reply blogger! :/ you should change that so we can have conversations! Haha.
