This Is Me.

I've tried to start blogs before, and even kept up with one or two for awhile, but it always ends up the same way- I forget about it because I either get too busy or I'm not using it for something important. This time, I'm hoping that it'll be different. This time, I'm using this as a way to share my passions with the world, not to talk about my personal life.
My first passion-

I adore tattoos. I'm not a fan of ink that has no meaning to you, however. And I don't have many tattoos at the moment. But I do think that they're a beautiful way of expressing oneself without having to say a word. Some of the most beautiful people I know are covered in tattoos.

I'm working on getting a better camera and taking photos of some of my favorite ones, but for now - here are mine.

My left wrist.

My right wrist.

These tattoos (Carpe Diem - "Seize the day") are ones that I've wanted since early high school.
For two reasons-
First: I'm a very optimistic person. Which means when I do have my bad days, they're extremely bad. And looking down and seeing my tattoo reminds me that any day can be made into a good day. I just have to make it that way.

Second: I am a Christian. My faith is a huge part of me, and I know that I am incredibly blessed in every aspect of my life. And I want to share it with others. I want others to have the joy that I have. And so it's a reminder for me to share Christ with everyone that I meet. Whether it be in a class, at work, or in the coffee shop on Main where I get my coffee three times a week. There's always an opportunity.

"You shall love your crooked neighbor with all your crooked heart."

This is my second, or, well, third tattoo. And I cannot be more happy with how it turned out.
The quote is from a poem by W.H. Auden, and it's also mentioned in my favorite book, Looking for Alaska.

It has a beautiful meaning.
We have no right to judge anyone else because we're just as awful, just as crooked, as they are.
So we might as well love them.
The flower is a dandelion.
Which is known as the "wishing flower."
Close your eyes, make a wish, and blow until the flower is gone.

I wish for peace.
For everyone to love one another.
And that's what the tattoo means.

  1. these are beautiful!! I love that quote, I've never read that poem or book. I'll have to check it out.

I have a weird symbol of my own invention on my left wrist. It's a peace sign and a hard and an amersand ("&") all mixed into one, kind of.. and it's a long story but it means love and acceptance of mankind and reverence for the sanctity of every relationship we form, no matter how small.

I also have a pisces symbol tattooed on the back of my neck, because... well, i'm a pisces. and there are things about myself that I used to wish i could change, until I got into astrology and realized they are just who I am, so embrace it! Be the best version of myself!

Anyway, in case you were wondering. And I love your little blog.

    1. Thank you so much! I absolutely love them all. And you should definitely check out the book. It's incredible in every way. If you go to my bookshelf page, I talk about it as well.

I actually love that! I would love to see it as well. Other people's tattoos intrigue me. It sounds beautiful, and I'm sure that it looks it as well.

Thank you so much! I'm just starting, but I already love it. (:

comment, encourage, or tell me happy thoughts.
any of the three will do. :)
